I've been receiving many emails and DMs from the community, asking if I've (or anyone else) have had a lot of experiences lately where I see spirits and spirit activity out of the corner of my eye.
My short response is yes, and perhaps a deeper question is, why?
What’s been revealed is the urgent need for the world to return to an animist worldview.
It’s not just about “believing in” animism; as this notion of “believing” is synonymous with faith or a need to be convinced. What the spirits seem to be pointing to, and reminding us is to recognize reality as being fuller, mysterious and uncontainable. We’re approaching a point where we must collectively face everything that isn’t working—everything that causes suffering and injustice—and the natural rebalancing of things that may be very inconvenient to the System and its participants who require suffering for their comfort to continue.
Through animism, through knowing and being willing to be guided by the spirits, we can find relief in realizing we don’t have to have everything figured out as humans.
We can return to a place of feeling—not being at the mercy of emotions, or becoming self-absorbed with them, but instead, honouring emotions for what they have always been for— fully feeling as a way for the Yang to be in service of the Yin, to re-sensitize to the more-than-human, to the unseen. To feel this way will be a way for the natural laws of the Land, of the Dao, to lead us to making decisions that serve all of life and honour the dead.
Those who are already sensitive to this will become even more attuned, and those who aren’t yet will begin to develop this awareness.
To all of us, let us cultivate sensitivities.
So that we know when we are visited by the wise ones.
So we know to kneel when we are met with the shadowy ones.
With the rocks who show us their faces.
With the animal spirits darting, fluttering, scurrying.
With visitations through our peripheral vision.
With animate forces that are more felt through the skin or through scent.
Where we will no longer search for proof, and instead ask ourselves what is our role in service of the whole.
To feel is to be whole.
To feel is to serve.
To feel is to do.
To feel is to know.
To feel is to love.
To feel is to heal.
To feel is to live.
If you're feeling this, perhaps you're desiring to express your 'feelingness'?
By feeling, perhaps all that is easeful and all that challenges. Consider Ugly Words, a container of decay and the liminal through writing, designed to coincide with the fall and winter seasons.
Or perhaps the urge to attune to your ‘feelingness’ is in community, honouring the dead and the animate forces?
